چکیده

This work studied the removal of phenol from industrial effluents through catalytic ozonation in presence granular activated carbon a continuous fixed-bed reactor. Phenol was chosen as model pollutant because its environmental impact and high toxicity. Based on evolution total organic (TOC) concentration, kinetic proposed to study effect operational variables combined adsorption–oxidation (Ad/Ox) process. The three-phase expressed oxidation phenomena liquid adsorption surface form two constants, k1 k2 respectively. interpretation constants allow benefits behaviour use during ozonisation process under different conditions affecting adsorption, oxidation, mass transfer. Additionally, calculated parameters helped explain observed changes treatment efficiency. results showed that would be completely removed at an effective contact time 3.71 min, operating alkaline pH 11.0 ozone gas concentration 19.0 mg L?1. Under these conditions, 97.0% decrease initial observed.

Electrocoagulation process for textile wastewater treatment in continuous upflow reactor

This study investigates the influence of operating parameters (current density, detention time and time of electrolysis) on COD and color removals from a simulated basic dyebath effluent using electrocoagulation (EC) with iron electrodes in continuous flow mode. Till today, researchers are mainly focused on use of EC systems in batch processes. Looking to large quantities of wastewater from tex...

Treatment of winery wastewater in a full-scale fixed bed biofilm reactor.

The treatment of winery wastewater was performed at full-scale applying a two-stage fixed bed biofilm reactor (FBBR) system for the discharge in the sewerage. The results of the first year of operation at the full-scale plant are presented. Values of removed organic loads and effluent concentrations were interpreted on the basis of the COD fractionation of influent wastewater assessed through r...

Application of a moving bed biofilm reactor for tertiary ammonia treatment in high temperature industrial wastewater.

This study examines the use of a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) as a tertiary treatment step for ammonia removal in high temperature (35-45°C) effluents, and quantifies different phenotypes of ammonia and nitrite oxidizing bacteria responsible for nitrification at elevated temperatures. Bench scale reactors operating at 35 and 40°C were able to successfully remove greater than 90% of the inf...

Automation of a fixed-bed continuous–flow reactor

This paper describes the design and operation of a laboratory plant with a fixed-bed continuous-flow reactor, fully automated and controlled from a personal computer. The automated variables include two gas flows, one liquid flow, six temperatures, two pressures, one circulation of a cooling liquid, and 10 electrovalves. An adaptive-predictive control system was used. The chemical process chose...

Poultry Slaughterhouse Wastewater Treatment Using Anaerobic Fluid Bed Reactor and Aerobic Mobile-Bed Biological Reactor

This research evaluated the efficiency of combined anaerobic-aerobic processes for the treatment of slaughterhouse wastewater. The anaerobic reactor consists of a 3.95 L Plexiglas column with 60 mm diameter and 140 cm height. The cylindrical particles of polyvinyl chloride with 2 mm diameter and 1250 kg m-3 density packed to 60 cm of column were used as biomass saving material. The d...
